Resume writing differs significantly from career coaching, which often requires either phone consultations, in-person meetings, or both, and it's a service I used to offer until the pandemic hit. Since then, considering the high demand for resume writing services amidst the massive layoffs, I've changed my business model and now only offer resume writing services.
Since I take my clients careers' very seriously, my primary objective is to guarantee the utmost quality in the deliverables I provide. For this reason, I believe that maintaining the integrity of the information shared is crucial, and notes from conversations taken over the phone can lead to the loss of important details, impacting the final results.
Last, but not least, since resume writing is extremely labor-intensive, providing phone consultations would substantially increase the prices associated with my services, which might pose a challenge for numerous professionals seeking my help. I'm not sure why "ATS-compliant" became such a buzzword—probably because it sounds fancy—but the truth is, there are no formal compliance guidelines when it comes to writing resumes for Applicant Tracking Systems, so the concept of an "ATS-compliant" resume is misleading.
Instead, what you need to keep in mind and focus on when applying for jobs is adhering to "ATS best practices," and here's where my expertise comes in.
